Wood from the mountainous areas of Central Europe belonging to the Pinaceae family, fine-textured with straight grain and known by the scientific name Larix decidua Mill. The larch is a needle-leaved and deciduous tree, it is very long-lived and can live for thousands of years, reaching up to 45 m in height and up to 1 m in diameter, in exceptional cases up to 2 in diameter, It is a very tolerant tree to winter cold, in fact it is able to survive very extreme temperatures and there are still thousand-year-old specimens in South Tyrol dating back almost to the ancient Roman Empire.
