PAMA is a wood of South American origin, particularly in South America, the Caribbean islands, Central America in much of the coastal regions of Mexico and southern Florida. It belongs to the Moraceae family with the scientific name Brosimum alicastrum and chosen by TABU as one of the first FSC®-certified wood species. The tree ranges in height from 20 to 40 meters and can be up to two meters wide, Some studies report that it played an important role in the Mayan civilization for its small nuts as well as for its constructive use.
