A North American wood that can reach 40 meters in height, known by the scientific name Liquidambar styraciflua of the Hamamelidaceae family, its habitat is cool-climate forests and it was imported to Europe as an ornamental plant in the late 1600s. The term Liquidambar comes from Latin liquidus and Arabic ambar to refer to the fragrant resin produced by the tree; resin that was anciently used for various medicinal purposes. A tree of great stage presence due to its overall aesthetic for the showy colors of its foliage in the fall, it appears as a very uniform and elegant veneer in its context.
