It is a species of African origin in the Sapotaceae family, botanically referred to as “altissima, robusta, superba, gigantea” with the scientific names of Aningeria altissima/ Aningeria robusta/ Aningeria superba/ Gambeyobotrys gigantea, often used in the past as a viable alternative to flame de Noce, can reach 50 meters in height.

In the Tabu proposal, ribbed texture veneer has purely vertical grain in the direction of the fiber. It is obtained from a part of the log (quarter or third) cut perpendicular to the annual rings.
